THE board of Tourism KwaZulu Natal announced on April 5 that Miller Matola, South African Tourism's portfolio manager for the Americas and the UK, has been appointed new ceo of Tourism KwaZulu Natal. The appointment follows the departure of Gareth Coleman on March 31. Matola' s appointment is effective from May 1. "Whilst we are sad to lose someone of his outstanding calibre, we can find comfort in the fact that he remains within the tourism family. We believe that this role will see him greatly enhancing the reputation of KwaZulu Natal as one of the country' s key provinces in attracting both domestic and international visitors,” said Cheryl Carolus, SA Tourism ceo. Matola has had a long career in travel and tourism. He established the strategy for South African Tourism' s convention bureau to market South Africa as a MICE destination, and as portfolio manager for the Americas and UK, he implemented the first integrated marketing campaign targeting the USA market. Matola also served on SA Tourism's brand team and was one of two nominees for the SAA Travel Industry Awards 2002, in the category ‘most outstanding individual in the tourism industry’.
