A NEW tourist route, close to Johannesburg and Pretoria, features a variety of arts and crafts, local farm products, ethnic clothing and scenic picnic spots - all within a 2km stretch of road. The Kudu Kronkel (meander), which officially opens on July 31, combines the attractions of five farms located on the road to Hartbeesfontein. It is one of the themed routes being developed in the Dinokeng region, a Blue IQ project to promote economic growth and job creation through tourism. Located on a former kudu conservancy, the Kudu Kronkel area is still home to 30 free roaming antelope. Attractions include a pottery studio on the farm Edencare, traditional African treats and handmade African arts from Die Plaaswerf on the farm Sunset View, clothing from Jackal’s Pride, fresh produce from the farm Sondans, while Bundhu-Rus Guest Farm offers many picnic spots. Attractions are open from 10h00 daily. On the opening day, Saturday July 31, live music will entertain guests from 15h00 until late. (Lucy Siebert)
